Additionally, you’ll select the insulation level (R-value) that suits your needs, and we’ll ensure the track system and spring lift are appropriate for your garage’s dimensions. In most cases, yes, an insulated garage door is highly recommended, especially in Ontario’s climate. Even if your garage isn’t heated, an insulated door helps regulate temperatures, keeping your garage warmer in winter and cooler in summer. This can reduce drafts into attached living spaces and improve energy efficiency. Insulation also adds strength and makes the door operate quieter compared to non-insulated doors. The only time you might consider a non-insulated door is for a detached garage in mild climates, but given our cold winters, we primarily install insulated garage doors for optimal performance.
The right insulation level for your garage door depends on how you use the space and whether it’s attached to your home. We offer insulated garage doors with R-values ranging from R6 to R18+, which help reduce heat loss, improve energy efficiency, and minimize outside noise.
R6–R9 is ideal for unheated, detached garages used mainly for storage or parking.
R10–R12 is recommended for attached garages or those used occasionally, helping keep adjacent living spaces more comfortable.
